I
- Use the LJ cut a lot
- Avoid bashing characters/celebrities of both genders
- Appreciate villains (and adore heroes just as much)
- Appreciate rock and pop. Old school or present period. Asian or non-Asian. Men and women. So if you're one of those fans who hates Asian female vocalists or are anti-pop/rock, press the back button now.
- Tend to contemplate about my two different cultures a lot.
- Sometimes write a bit on Yaoi. No worries this is far from constant as I'm not to the level of hardcore/elitist/rabid when it comes to slash or Yaoi. Even if you are non-slash you don't have to read what I write at all. For TV/movie or book spoiler posts or Yaoi I would put an lj-cut in. I do despise the hardcore slash/femslash fans who bash the opposite gender who get in the way of their homo ships and if you're one of them the chances are I won't add you as a friend.
- Give extra kudos if you are a Kino Makoto and/or Chiba Mamoru fan. Both these Sailormoon characters are possibly the most neglected when it comes to fanfiction.
- Give extra kudos if you are a Meredith Grey fan and respect her relationship with Derek/McDreamy and don't hate Gwen Cooper of Torchwood either.
- Would be happy to see a fellow Nightwish fan drop a line here, especially if you are respectable towards Tarja Turunen AND Anette Olzon
- Avoid netspeak. It hurts many readers' eyes, as does the Quarantino speech effect. Swearing constantly in each sentence of yours doesn't make you hip
- Don't add me just to expand your friends list as if you're on a social networking site. It helps if we have some things in common, you know? Or if you're someone who I have had fandom-related discussions with on my journal, LJ communities or via fanfiction.net you're welcome to add me in that context too.
- Don't recklessly bash fictional or real life figures. I understand you would hate something but dedicating a fanfic or posts to ridiculously bashing Orlando/Akane/Hermione/Kaoru/Kagome/Buff y/J-Lo/Ayumi/BoA/Keira etc isn't going to make you look like any more decent. Acknowledge the pro's and cons if you can.
- Try to refrain from conflicting with political views. I know lots of people are very politically minded but politics (and criticising a culture offensively) is a sensitive thing.
- Regarding the slash, as mentioned above you don't have to read those entries because I would lj-cut or completely lock them. Unless you're 100% homophobic then you may as well press the back button or close the window.
- If you happen to like pop and rock of all ages that's cool and nothing to be ashamed of. If you have a ton of Amuro Namie and Malice Mizer in your album collection that's not a crime. I can go as far back as you want me to on music. From Beatles down to Keane. Unless you are far from an 80s or oldies type of music fan then this journal would be a bit boring to glance at.
