Writer's Block: Here's looking at you

In My Sassy Girl when Gyeon-woo bravely walks into an all-female class to give 'The Girl' a rose while she is playing the piano.

It's a break from the constant torture the girl gives to Gyeon-woo in the film. Of course the girl has her reason for being how she is. The scene with the piano and how Gyeon-woo breaks out of his disguise to casually present a romantice gesture was just...simple. Not sure how else to describe it but it was nicely done.

Heroes 4.08 Once Upon A Time In Texas

Charlie and Hiro = :)

I missed Charlie and this episode just made me feel um... nostalgic. We went back to season 1 and saw some familiar scenes with extra bits in them. The HRG potential co-worker romance was a surprise. HRG isn't all goody two shoes as we all know but this was something I didn't expect he had kept hidden. Lauren (hah it's Kate from Angel) likes him, he likes her... but he cares for his family. How she went to the Haitian to have her memory wiped later was gutsy of her to pull off.

No doubt this episode was Hiro-heavy and it was hilarious how Hiro pretend to be tough like the real Mirai no Hiro to the past Hiro. He doesn't need his Katana to be kakkoi here lol. Samuel is such a wonderfully slimy bastard (oh the T-Bag in you xD). Sometimes I want to eat him up because he's such a hot SOB manipulating everyone around him. But ouch what he made Arnold do to Charlie though, that broke Hiro. Oh and wtf he killed Mohinder eight weeks ago?! I was wondering where Suresh really disappeared to.

Hiro's talk with the little cowboy oh bless that scene. He gave Hiro his white hat and mentions bad guys wear black hats - hi Sylar wassup? Hiro stops Sylar from killing Charlie but even when she's still alive Charlie's brain is overdoing it so Hiro decides to let Sylar help her. Rather than do his dirty open your brain style he removes the blood clot subtly from Charlie's brain.

SPN is still interesting me but I kind of want to get back on the apocalypse and angel plotline. The latest episode from last week was like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Aged!Dean and Bobby bickering was funny. Sam said it was like watching Grumpy Old Men haha. I couldn't play poker and bet on my years. It's just too risky for my liking. I'd probably wet my seat :/

Writer's Block: Relive in the moment

If you could relive one hour of your life so far, what would you choose and why? Would you do or say anything different? How do you think it would change your life?

View 988 Answers

Whoo you'd get a long list from me in response to this question. Maybe a job interview for a role I desperately wanted. Or perhaps decide to not enter the Nightwish meet and greet competition from the Brixton gig in March. I might not feel as guilty (for having to bail out) as I do at the moment.

I think for now it would be my last gig experience from two weeks ago. Maybe if I took my friend's offer in standing right by the barrier as opposed to behind a few other people it would have made a slight difference. Who knows?

Bus seat fight

This was in the Chinese newspaper apparently. Has anyone seen this? All I can say is do not mess with this Chinese woman...

fight on bus

On other things I went to the Stephen Gately fan memorial yesterday in London. Small turnout. I thought they would be 100 but it felt like 40 fans came in the end. I'm guessing it was due to last minute changes. Who knows? Anyway I'm not sure when the official memorial will take place but it will be soon. The fan memorial I attended had a raffle for goodies which I regret not getting a ticket for >_> as well as photo albums in display of old pics. I left a message for the condolence book and wrote a note to be stapled on a balloon. Everyone donated £1 which was going to go to the charity Stephen was ambassador for.

Franz Ferdinand @ O2 Brixton Academy [23/10/09]

My bad luck from the day just continued throughout the evening. I've never had a huge problem with crazy fans as I'm well away from them, even on stalls. Surprisingly I got lucky with the Tarja gig on the previous Monday so no mosh pit there apart from two men just pushing in without saying excuse me. But the Friday during the same week... quite a shocker. I was almost for the first time actually tempted to start a mosh pit. It was only a few days ago I was talking to someone about trying to avoid mosh pits and found them appalling. I would only push someone if s/he got on my nerves to a high level and not just for satisfaction because I felt I was better than everyone. That's a bit too much.

Fangirls just pushed themselves to the front so my original position which was right behind a fellow fangirl who was at the front of the barrier went to four people back. These young fangirls just forced themselves in front of me, enraging me more when they danced and trod on my feet a lot. I even stopped one woman from pushing in front when she was about to force herself forward to enjoy herself while with her boyfriend but I took the space opposite me to get a photo. In fact my photos turned out so bad because of the unexpected commotion downstairs. I don't know what these fans were taking but they were nuttier than usual. I've been cool with the occasional stupid fanbrats however I think I lost my composed nature at gigs on this night. There were other idiotic fanmen who were pushing others on the other side whereas I had to tolerate hyper fangirls who almost suffocated me. One girl even asked if I wanted to have a photo taken since she was so obviously in my way but I shook my head to say no need it was cool. Thanks for the kindness but I had no energy to accept it. Oops :/

All this rowdy behaviour started when This Fire kicked in. Seriously wtf?! I know this is how gigs are meant to be. You're all jumping up and down, absorbing the awesome music from your band. I know I know I need to suck it up too. I get it. I just don't want trouble. I want to enjoy live music but I want to enjoy it without causing harm towards others. I suspect a lot of people noticed the craziness on Fri night because when I was on the way home on the Victoria line train I overheard a fanboy say, "Franz were good but the gig was shit. Everyone was so bitter." I was tempted to say I agree but I was hungry and needed comfort so munched on my chocolate Pocky, which everyone seemed intrigued by as I ate them. Somehow I was even tempted to offer some to the Franz boys even though the chocolate had melted.

Anyway apart from the stupid fans who made the night less enjoyable, Franz were definitely good. I think they had trouble getting the fans upstairs in the circle warmed up but they got off their seats eventually. I got splashed by someone's water as it flew to the stage and another appeared during Can't Stop Feeling which Alex managed to dodge conveniently while singing. All My Friends a song I had never heard of popped up that night and the gig finished with the lengthy Lucid Dreams which I never get tired of. Alex prompted the fans to copy his uh huh yeeeaah chant and it went on for over 5 minutes. Van Tango and Jacqueline returned which was nice. Felt old school. You can't go wrong with Outsiders. It's perfect for lives. What's even more awesome is how everyone teams up on the drums. The guys brought out an extra set of drums and Paul came away from his drum kit to smack away with the other three. Wanted a drumstick so bad but couldn't catch it.

Can't Stop Feeling might be one of my personal tracks because while I was trying to take a photo of Alex, he pointed in my direction as he sang and gave me a few seconds of eye p0rn. Suddenly I'm associating that song with this little moment. Corny thought I know ^^;; Aaah I should have responded back with a thumbs up, a wave or raise my arm but I was too busy holding my camera to get a good shot of him. Oh and thank goodness he got rid of the mustache. He developed this Stalin style throughout the tour and a lot of fans weren't too keen by it. Eventually it disappeared by the time Franz came to London and Alex even trimmed his hair. My goodness he looked so good on Friday in his tight black trousers and black shirt with a shiny necklace to accompany his clothes. But he looked even better on Sat apparently. I suddenly regret not getting a ticket for the Sat show despite the very late start which people said wasn't a good idea for me to attend to. Auf Achse popped up which made me sad because I wanted to hear it on Fri but we didn't get it. I would have gone to the aftergig show as well for Fri, alas my fatigue and frustration wouldn't be suitable. OT from the last two weeks has made me more exhausted.

My photos Too many pics had random hands and arms popping up ^_^;;;;

Some clips

Tell Her Tonight, Can't Stop Feeling and Michael I recommend seeing this in HQ XD Alex guuuuh...
Matinee and Jacqueline
Take Me Out
Outsiders W00t

Sat clips <strike>to make me cry</strike>
Can't Stop Feeling Alex and his moves lolz
Auf Achse one of my fav tracks from the first album. Only heard it live at Ally Pally gig T_T
40'

Setlist

1.
Oh Samuel mwah

Samuel suddenly I love you more and more each time I see you in Heroes. You just kick arse. W00t. Manipulative, persuasive SOB!! He sure cares about his 'family' and other people who have special abilities but the minute you step out of line he won’t hesitate to kill. Samuel did just that to the police station after Jeremy’s death. Robert Knepper continues to look fierce and hot. Yum.

Tracy’s attempt to help out Jeremy, empathising. Useful for her character. Wonder what it would have been like should it have been Niki Sanders instead. HRG trying hard to help special people is always a bonus.

Sylar was obviously going to take over Matt’s body when Matt drifted off to sleep. Duh. But it was a sick moment seeing how Matt drank himself like mad to weaken Sylar. Briefly cracked up at Sylar’s short attempt to talk like Mohinder in a posh British accent. Heh.

Bit disappointed we didn’t go straight to Hiro’s story when he went back 3 years ago after remembering Charlie. Maybe in the next episode I guess...

Sorry not much of an update here I'm afraid. I think I'm addicted to tweeting but I won't neglect my LJ no worries XD

Gigs and tv

I've been watching Heroes but ep 5 didn't give me much to comment about other than Peter and Emma's scenes. Ep 6 on the other hand... Sylar and <strike>T-Bag</strike> Samuel - nice. I've always wanted to know what it would be like if Sylar clashed with Teddy but this is an interesting turn of my fancracking fantasy. Sylar with no memories is a two way street for me. Sometimes I think it makes him look silly, other times I think well it's a change in where his character currently stands. Of course the real Sylar will be back soon... I hope.

HRG is once again showing why he rocks. Emma not sure on her ability and Hiro helping out was sweet. This Circus family is a weird piece of fascination. Trust Edgar to be jealous of Lydia getting snuggly with Sylar. Samuel wasn't wrong on saying those two might like each other when he brought Sylar into his family.

I went to see Nightwish's former vocalist Tarja Turunen in Angel last Mon for the very first time after much yes or no reflecting over the months and was able to get a ticket in the last minute before she sold out last week. Must say she was pretty good even though yeah she does disappear from the stage to take a breather and change in different clothes. I've never seen her with Nightwish so this was probably going to be the one time I'd see her live. I missed out on Nightwish back in March so I thought I could make up for it by seeing Tarja instead.

The setlist had more of her Winter Storm songs than anything else and in a venue which holds 800 people you can still see the stage even when at the back. I was kind of in the middle on the left hand corner of Islington Academy but still managed a decent view. While we didn't get Phantom Of The Opera, Wishmaster or Passion And The Opera we got She Is My Sin, Nemo and Deep Silent Complete. Nemo is inevitable as that's a popular song most people tend to be familiar with.

I was happy we got She Is My Sin but technical issues surfaced at the beginning which was funny and the guys behind me were saying, "No no error error." Everyone was hinting to Tarja there was a problem but the band weren't sure what to do and just kept playing. Their instruments were fine but Tarja's microphone just didn't work at first so it was like a karaoke moment. Thankfully it was resolved halfway.

I think the band helping Tarja out were good. I read from message boards that a few fans didn't like the long drum solo, saying they paid to see Tarja not check out the band when they had their chill out time while Tarja was away from the stage. I find this shocking. Sure it's Tarja's gig but without the band's help how else is she meant to sing, get music beats? Sure the drum solo dragged which is understandable but I respect the drummer for what he does. He is pretty good from the clips I've seen of him. I also like the main guitarist. He has a cool aura. I was also paying a great deal of attention to the cellist as it was Max Lilja who used to be in Apocalyptica. When I found out he was helping Tarja out I thought omg I need to check him out. I've seen Apocalyptica with Perttu and Anterro before he left but never Max. Max is great with the cello and I did a little googling on him after the gig to see what he had been up to since leaving Apocalyptica. Now I've listened to his work with Hevein and that band's album is impressive.

my pics Secretly trying to get much eyecandy from support and Max XDD The support bands were ok. Apparition were female fronted metal and Power Quest were power metal that had a longer setlist than Apparition. Poor girl from that band had a cold so the setlist had to be cut short.

Some clips from fans (I recorded Deep Silent Complete but my mobile phone quality is rubbish and you can hear my bad 'aaaah' sing along XD)

Deep Silent Complete
I Walk Alone
a bit of Boy and the Ghost/Our Great Divide

SPN 4.05 Fallen Idol / Heroes 4.04 Acceptance

The minute I saw guest starring Paris Hilton I lol'd. Turns out she has 2-3 mins of screentime and a few lines to spit out, as well as the opportunity to beat up the brothers. Dean fanboying over a fake ver of James Dean's Little Bastard amused me too much. He didn't want to hurt the car in any way. It's like watching a little boy go squee over his toy cars and trains.

Sam and Dean aren't quite back to their old brotherly love yet. Sam may be back with working together with his brother but they're not back to being acquainted in a respectful manner. Looks like they have much work to do. Not just for the apocalypse but for each other as family.

Generally I find the idea of fans being killed by their idols not a cool thing. My head wanted to explode when those young girls spoke of Paris Hilton taking their friend away. Her few mins of SPN footage is too funny. She beats the hell out of Dean mostly but gets her head chopped off by Sam in the end. Whose idea was it to get her in an episode anyway? Just because it was making reference to a wax museum?! So then that reminded us of the House of Wax remake...which was not award winning anyway. Funny how Paris' character goes on about humans reading about celebs and obsessing over them when she herself is often making headlines because of her name and what she does. Is this a parody?

Are the writers giving Tracy more screentime? Wish they had thought similarly for Niki. Anyway Tracy gets her old job back but is having concerns on whether this is what she wants or whether she wants a new direction. What are you going to do? Who does she go to see for some form of advice? HRG. Because yeah he's smart and awesome. Notice how Tracy's emotions seem to affect her watery ability...?

Most of the episode was heavy on the Hiro-ness, wouldn't you say? He made me cry again. Japanese dialogue with a lot of emotions = emo me. Can see why he was desperate to stop that Tadashi guy from jumping off the top of the building he works at. He kept getting it wrong until he did some self-reflecting while time-travelling. Kimiko finds out her little brother is dying which makes the idea of a happy wedding unlikely for her and Ando.

So Nathan!Sylar is trying to work out the confusing parts of his memories. Angela tries to guide him by giving him old belongings he hasn't seen in a while. Goes to see Millie Houston about her missing daughter Kelly. But she wasn't missing at all. She had an accident from hitting her head when jumping into the pool. Nathan doesn't remember much because Haitian wiped his memory of this accident. I swear Millie is one slimy woman. She thinks her man has killed Nathan. Nope. I had the feeling we'd get Sylar back and hurrah we do. Oh Angela if only you know what she was up to.

Claire when the hell did you suddenly go all parental on HRG? Noah needs a new job because he is not getting anywhere in life (aren't we all struggling?!) having separated from Sandra and letting Claire go to uni, as well as retiring from working for the Company. But he hasn't retired just yet according to Lydia and Samuel. Lydia shows a pic of HRG when Samuel paints a tattoo on her back. Hmm interesting so Noah and Samuel may meet up at this point. Let's go...

:( Week of work has been crap and now I hear this

Funny how the latest episode of SPN is called Fallen Idol. Haven't watching it yet so no quick reaction post just yet. The episode name reminded me of what I discovered this morning...

RIP Stephen Gately. My favourite member of Boyzone. I still don't believe it. It was only a few months ago I saw Boyzone live in Wembley and was bummed I didn't go see them at the O2 Arena or at Shepton Mallet. Nii-san gave me the news this morning so sharply to brace myself but I didn't think it would be Stephen who had died.

Throughout the whole day I have been numb. Boyzone was part of nostalgia and one of my 'idols' has been taken to heaven.

My heart goes out to his family, Mikey, Shane, Keith and Ronan.

Pwned by crossdressing fighters

Saw this story in the newspaper a few days ago and it made my morning XD

<lj-embed id="41" />

Two drunken thugs were picking on two crossdressers who turned out to be cage fighters. They got pwned so much. I think this is a lesson to homophobic men who want to pick on crossdressers and gays. You never know that 'queer' you want to bully might be one hell of a fighter underneath the skirt lol.

No I've been stuck at this ongoing temp job for 2 years and want to escape ASAP. I'm struggling to pursue a dream career, let alone find my dream job and the recession doesn't make things any better. It's difficult when you don't know what the hell to do exactly and keep changing your mind on what kind of career you want.

My mind tends to wander towards freelance writer, blogger, editor and even a band if I was good enough at music.

Writer's Block: Concert mania

What band are you dying to see live in concert that you've never seen before? Would you travel to a different city or state just to see them?

View 2058 Answers

I've got three bands on my mind right now:

1) X Japan. Yeah they've had problems this past year because of management and injuries but I want to experience their explosive live performances. If I saved enough money yes I'd go see them in Tokyo. OR if they were touring in America or an Asian country I'd definitely consider.

2) Dir en grey is another band I'd like to see. They have been to the UK a few times while touring or as part of festivals. Whether or not I'd travel to another city or country to see them would depend on their touring situation. They are getting well-known globally so their chances of touring outside of Asia and America are high.

3) Muse. Again like with Diru if I can't see them locally then I'd go abroad to see the band live if there was an opportunity.

SPN 5.04 The End

SPN you just got good again.

Being transported to 2014 by Zachariah is a huge test for Dean and I didn't think he'd clash with his future self at the same time. The picture he found in his Dad's journal with Bobby and the other hunters I saw Castiel for a brief second. In the back of my mind I wondered whether he had lost his powers or not. He kind of did. He became human and started to be more of a hippy, growing addicted to amphetamines. Hearing the word 'orgy' come from Castiel's mouth gave me a wtf face. Then saying how beautiful the women were around him... weird but too funny.

Dean clashing with himself and seeing how much of a dick he is. Can you imagine facing yourself and seeing your flaws in front of your face? I suspected an angel had something to do with this back to the future trick. Typical it had to be Zachariah. But nice timing from Castiel on transporting Dean to his rendezvous point, escaping Zachariah's yelling.

One thing for sure Dean takes back his previous refusal of allowing Sam to come back and work with him. Quite a harsh reaction when hearing his younger brother is Lucifer's vessel. But at least Dean accepts Sam's return at the end of the episode. Those brothers can make me close to tears. Sam!Lucifer was peculiar, dressed completely in white. Almost speaking calmly or in a soothing manner to present!Dean. He doesn't want to destroy the world and explains a 'bed time story' as Dean puts it as to why he fell from grace. But Dean thinks it's all BS.

Winchester boys what now? Go kick arse ya hear?

When I caught episodes 2-6 of Pride and Prejudice 1995 on UKTV Gold. I didn't mean to sit and watch till the end as I already had the DVDs for this but then couldn't resist. I was watching it with someone else at home.

Normally I watch TV to get away from boredom or depression but will easily get happy when I am looking forward to my fav series starting in a few minutes.

Writer's Block: Agree to disagree

Have you ever stopped being friends with someone over differences in political views? Are there any issues that are so important to you that you cannot be friends with someone who holds a contrary opinion?

View 977 Answers

Not really with politics but with culture and fandoms yeah it kind of happens. Culture tends to be more dangerous territory for me as I'm British with Chinese origin. I had native Chinese friends but they stopped talking to me not just because I was naturally introverted who didn't interact as much as I should but because I wasn't really uh... Chinese enough to talk to and the arguments I had for not speaking Chinese good enough was often there.

The minute politics is even discussed I switch off. Good for you if you know your politics and follow a political pov but don't involve me as I have little interest in the subject.

SPN 2.03 Free To Be You And Me / Heroes 4.03 Ink

Supernatural

I will never look at Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in the same way again after this episode. Did not see that reference coming in. Thanks for the random joke as always Dean lol. How heavy was the Castiel/Dean and Dean/Castiel-ness here? Dean has separated from his younger brother Sam who is trying to move away from hunting life but can't. It keeps on coming back to him. Dean on the other hand has to team up with Castiel to track down God and the angel Raphael and the results are funny. Dean trying to get Castiel to loosen up by going to a strippers bar. Old Dean is back to his pervy habits.

Sam is trying to start over by working in a bar but friends of Bobby try to persuade him to help take out some demons in the town. He's not interested, afraid he'll do something dangerous. Then they find out he officially started the Apocalypse, even force the poor guy to drink demon's blood but nope, Sam's not doing it.

The ending to the episode was shocking. So Jess wasn't Jess after all. Lucifer was disguising himself as Sam's deceased girlfriend. It turns out Sam is the true vessel for the angel. Nothing else to say except uh-oh. So if Dean is Michael's Vessel, Sam is Lucifer's Vessel do I smell epic battle between the brothers later on? I was expecting a creepy transformation from Jess to a demon but we got Nick the temporary vessel for Lucifer. I think Sam will eventually permit Lucifer in otherwise the story wouldn't get any more interesting, right? Though not right now I can imagine.

Key plots I'm interested in consist of what the hell Sylar is going to do with Matt's brain, Emma's story and what Peter will do now that he's met Samuel.

Matt is being screwed by Sylar on his job. Very slimy but very Sylar. Sylar using Matt's ability on Matt to make a mistake in a search warrant - ooh crazy. Matt has to use his powers to get things done even when he doesn't want to and sometimes Sylar persuades him to do just that. Even pretend nothing serious happened at the crime scene.

Emma - didn't realise she was deaf. I was puzzled by her ability at first and when she saw her sink I thought oh Tracy might kill her because Emma works for the company and I don't remember her. Nope she's completely separate. Why am I getting all my characters mixed up? O_O I think she might interact with Peter later. He seems nice to her but let's see how he reacts to her ability to see colours from sound. Fair enough on her reason to wear headphones even though she isn't listening to a walkman/mp3 player etc. She doesn't like seeing people's faces when they realise she's deaf.

If someone accused me of causing accidents just to get glory and pretend to be a hero I'd be pissed off. I was shocked Peter had to be accused of such a thing from Hesam and everyone else in the hospital. Samuel you manipulative bastard how you make me grin for no apparent reason. How he changed the newspaper article on Peter's wall so that he was at the bus accident. He has disguised himself as the mourning bloke who lost his brother which is kind of true but little does Peter know what this guy is up to. I don't quite understand how Peter would say he's never lost a brother. Um hello? The real Nathan's dead. Shouldn't you I don't know mention something on those lines? He knows Sylar's body has been under the Nathan form and even ignored Nathan!Sylar's phonecalls. Well at least he made a point about his experience of working in a hospice. Very thoughtful and typically nice of him.

Of course the moment Samuel shakes Peter's hand, Peter's got the former's ability. He doesn't find out something weird is happening to him until he is on the job. He finds a tattoo of a compass appear on his arm. Ooooh eee...

Samuel's old home has been destroyed which Samuel did with his power after being rudely dismissed by the current owner of his house. He just wanted to get a feel of his former home but there's a party going on and the hostess won't allow him to look around the place. Very grand home, isn't it? Makes you wonder what kind of household he was brought up in. So his Dad was the butler and Mum was the maid. Hmm... interesting. More backstory on Samuel please writers.

WORDS!

Can't remember if I did this meme but fandoms do rotate over time.

The Rules:

* Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!".
* I will then give you five words that remind me of you.
* Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

chiyohana gave me the following words:

Books I wouldn't call myself a bookworm as I'm rather picky on what to read but when there's an interesting book about I'll do my best to finish it. Also I'm a poor reader whose understanding of plot, flashy words and many uses of grammar tends to fail a great deal so I would probably prefer to read something easy. Classics are normally out of my reach because the style of writing tends to be tricky to grasp if you're not a genius in English but I will try to get through them even though my past discomfort with English lit shows. Generally I like me a good book but it might take me forever to read through it ^_^;;

Tuomas Holopainen Tuomas is just... *sighs* :P. Right next to Yoshiki, he's a musician who goes deep in his work. A soft speaker in interviews but someone who shows immense passion in music. His music speaks for him. I like his creativity, how he can use his imagination to bring a story into his compositions and you see his inspiration of fantasy thanks to his love for Tolkien. The fact he also really likes Disney shows he is not afraid to embrace his inner child.

Dramas When I get into a series they tend to be cult dramas regardless of the genre. So long as it grabs me by the neck I'll watch it. I've watched Korean dramas, some period Chinese dramas, Taiwanese dramas and many series from US or UK :)

X Japan Oh X you made me appreciate Jrock, as did L'aruku. Without X Japan I wouldn't realise rock could be mixed with orchestra and that rock isn't just plain noise. They're the Jrock band who broke the barriers of my music tastes and I thank them for it. Art Of Life remains one of my top lengthy songs which go on the lines of epic.

Anime I haven't touched Anime as well as Manga in a very long time and have many series to finish. But I still keep a place in my heart for this art. I first got into Anime back in 1992 but officially became a 'fan' in 1998 <strike>no</strike> thanks to watching bits of Sailormoon and playing its many computer games XD Anime isn't something that can be taken lightly because of its more adult roots but it shouldn't be shunned as a particular genre that is simply disgusting or childish like all cartoons are meant to be. You can find series that isn't Hentai or for little children. Shame cynics can't embrace that possibility as freely.

Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

What was the most memorable concert you ever attended? What made it so magical?

View 1500 Answers

I've been to a few gigs this year and couldn't really do a comparison as to which one was magical. Each gig had something different.

I saw Franz Ferdinand @ Hammersmith Apollo back in March 2009 and my seat was too high up on the circle area and I had trouble seeing the stage. The sound was fine but the view sucked. Then I decided to try my luck by waiting for the guys after the gig and managed to meet three of them after a very long wait. I took photos with Alex and Bob who were friendly to the waiting fans.

Keane's Island 50 gig in May 2009 @ Shepherd's Bush Empire was amazing because the atmosphere from the enthusiasic crowd was a huge welcome home to the UK feeling and the band sang so well as a result. It was an intimate gig too as the venue felt cosy.

Nightwish's gig @ London Astoria in March 2008 was my first time seeing said band. The night of the gig was also the night they did a very quick signing session at Zavvi in Tottenham Court Road. I managed to get their autographs before the gig so I had a quick close up encounter with each member. Seeing bands you really like in front of your face is an experience to treasure.

I want it all, I want it all

Last night I went to see We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre and it was BRILLIANT. Majority of the songs were classic Queen tracks. Aside from the random poke pop music parody I did find the cheeky references to British culture funny and the music references would only be laughed at if you knew enough about music from past to present.

But the main thing was I clapped my hands to the beat e.g. We Will Rock You - you can't help clapping as you sing along to this song - and headbanged so much. I even gave the devil horns/metal salute as did the cast. What can I say? Win!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sat quite near the stage as the band weren't downstairs so we ended up with a good view. They were in fact hiding upstairs, above the stage but there were curtains to hide them throughout the show.

Also visited Canary Wharf after three years of not stepping forth in that part of London ever since I left my job. It's changed a bit. Some shops have been replaced or moved elsewhere. I think the shopping centre is still expanding. I got tempted by books again which is bad. Waterstones enjoy torturing me with the 3 for 2 sales. I still have some books to get through right now but when there's a sale yikes. I even went to clothes shops which I seldom do as I'm bad at shopping for those things but I was curious about the expensive coats xD.

Tried to get presale Muse tickets for their London gigs but obviously no such luck. Not sure how I'll do with the general sales tomorrow morning. I'm going out for the day so I doubt I'll have much time to try my luck again even when on the move. I guess if I don't have luck in getting a ticket I'll leave it at that. I was gutted when the previous releases of the tickets back in the summer just went in a matter of seconds. I'm curious to hear the new songs live mainly as I've been listening to the new album nonstop.

Heroes 4.01/2 Orientation / Jump, Push, Fall // SPN 5.02 Good God Y'all

Sam you're leaving Dean alone?! :(((( I know you're worried you're dangerous and better off not hunting but dude how long will that be? Wonder where the writers will go with that. When will he be back on the road with Dean, hunting demons?

I particularly like the twist that War was the one doing the dirty in this episode. No demons included but making normal human beings believe one another is posessed and with the black eyes is just menacing.

Hi to Jo and Ellen. I thought Ellen was dead but she's alive, as is Jo. Nice to see more old faces pop up, including Rufus. So... where are War's brothers? Wonder how they'll appear in the series.

Did this episode's pace feel quick or was it just me? For instance with HRG bleeding to death after being attacked by Edgar then just a second later he's recovering in the hospital. Way to make the viewer panic on HRG dying. I was teased when I saw the trailer after all and thought he'd at least suffer for a few scenes then the crew cut to the hospital where he's fine.

Peter working as a paramedic. I had issues with him in season 2 and he was kind of crawling his way back to my liking in season 3. Maybe I'll like him again. I went nuts over the fight scene against Edgar. Just... *fangirls* Good martial arts scene = me being spaz.

Danko nice knowing you. You came and went. Well at least I saw you for a few mins in season 1 of True Blood xP HRG is genius by wiping Danko's memory thanks to the Haitian. He kept his word to Tracy about getting Danko to lose interest in killing her. See Tracy HRG is smart. You listen to him, ok? So is she going to work with him now? Give her something to do, writers :/

Hiro-kun, bless you're dying. That's not good. Where will the Otaku-ness go? Ando can't compete. I just can't stop Lolz'ing over how he calls Kimiko "Kimmy." I worry about Hiro's path and soon Peter's. The Dial A Hero project is really creative even if Kimiko disagrees a great deal. Their first customer involves saving a cute cat. Ando has to do the physical rescue and Hiro manages to use his power in the last minute to freeze time and make sure Ando lands safely on the ground. But then Hiro freezes himself without realising it.

Samuel you are cunning yet you are not to be messed with. His power is quite an interesting one. His manipulating Hiro after Hiro accidentally transported himself back to 14 years ago was kind of T-Bag as were his other gestures in the episode. Well Samuel did do a Teddy lick. Good sign lol. Then he's all persuasive around Hiro, insisting he use his rare power for good. Listen to Teddy, Hiro-kun. Oh Robert Knepper how I love thee xD!!!!!!!!!! He looks hot with the eyeliner and tacky black nail paint. Samuel has certainly won me over as a character and I await excitedly for his meeting with Peter, Claire and Sylar. Mmmhmm XD One thing I can't work out is Robert's accent. Is he trying to be Irish? So strange.

Sylar is re-surfacing. I'm quite relieved. Not sure if I'd be able to cope with him hiding underneath Nathan's shell for the entire volume. Nothing against Flying Man of course and I understand how much of a deep cut it has left the Petrellis after he died but it's just bizarre having Nathan!Sylar around. Can we have the real Sylar back asap? Well at least he's still present though in Matt's mind, giving him hell. Ouch to the mindfucking. Matt tread carefully please.

TB 2.12 & Muse binge

I think most fan reactions are of the same wavelength. What kind of cliffhanger was that? How dare they leave it there? Who kidnapped Bill? So many possibilities. I accidentally spoiled myself with reading thoughts from those who read the books. So if it was that person involved then it wouldn't surprise. On the one hand Eric would be too much of an obvious choice so I doubt it was really him who grabbed Bill near the end of the episode.

But on the whole the finale was rather anti-climatic. The small Eric scenes disappointed me and seeing what he would be up to with Sophie-Anne would have served a more interesting storyline than the craziness of the Maenad. I just finished Living Dead In Dallas while waiting for the episode to finish dl'ing and even in the book the Maenad storyline doesn't get a great deal of attention. It's quick and she doesn't die. Sam was brilliant in the episode nonetheless. How he dealt with Maryann was win. I suspected it was him who had changed into a bull. Bill definitely had a plan but he didn't let Sookie know what it was.

Andy and Jason team up was funny. Such hardcore heroes lol. I'm thinking about whether or not the Bill proposing Sookie scene was necessary. Why push that scene into the series? They love each other. Why put that in? Of course if I was in Sookie's shoes I'd freak and go to the ladies to calm myself. Marrying a vampire - you'd start to wonder what the pros and cons are.

Poor Jessica and Hoyt aren't working out. Bless Hoyt for trying to give her flowers yet she wasn't at home. Instead Jessica was off feeding on a truck driver. What is she going to do now? She'll be wandering around for food. Hope something interesting comes about for Jessica and that she'll fix her relationship with Hoyt.

Another thing I'm curious about is whether Alexander Skarsgard is even dating Evan Rachel Wood. I'm sure it's a rumour and that fandom doesn't explode any further over this. I don't know who she is apart from reading all over the net that she was Marilyn Manson's recent girlfriend nor have I watched her films. Youth looks older these days. We can't tell their proper ages. I can't believe she's younger than me. She looks like she's in her 30s in True Blood o_O I get horror from people finding out how old I am. They don't believe my age behind my babyface.

I have to re-read the books again. So much I forgot... well apart from Damon XDDDD I'm uncertain on whether updating the timeline is a good choice. Obviously Heath Ledger wasn't dead when the stories took place. The music I like. Very recent and almost of bands I am fond of. My hands were in the air when White Lies' Death played. Elena as everyone has pointed out is meant to be a blonde but she's brunette. Why the change in hair colour and personality? I don't know she seems more uh vulnerable in the series whilst I'm sure she wasn't like that in the books. I understand the blonde female protagonists being done to death. It gets to me but I'll make exceptions to good blonde leaders if they prove themselves not useless.

I've been listening to Muse's The Resistance a lot. It just keeps on growing on me.

:D

I think it's safe to say this is an experimental album and one of those things you have to listen to a few times to get the feel, hopefully the new style will grow on you if you are feeling cynical at first. I'm starting to like this new album and style - saying this as a new Muse fan too. Wow I'm using the word new too often xD.

Uprising has this funky beat. Quite r'n b-ish like Supermassive Black Hole. Very catchy. I think the song which has quickly grown on me after I think 3 listens is The Resistance. But my possible favourite could change to Undisclosed Desires. For some reason I think True Blood and any other ships which are just dysfunctional with plenty of angst. The last three overture tracks are lovely. Traditionally classical music.

SPN 5.01 Sympathy For The Devil // A Scoop Of Korea from yesterday

Winchester brothers are back after a long year. How can we forget the shocking cliffhanger from last time? I thought we were going to look at Lucifer as soon as he rose from below but sadly that wasn't the case at all. Sam and Dean were saved and transported to a plane instead. Lucifer is finding his vessel and as we don't know what he looks like (yet) he's taking in another person's appearance while he spends his time persuading his vessel to let him in and take control.

Zachariah not happy with Dean rebelling against his job to stop Lucifer. So Dean is Michael's vessel - wtf? Isn't that Stu-ish? But I liked his way of forcing the angels to disappear thanks to Castiel's trick. I just went w00t when I saw Dean do that. Sam has been supposedly cleansed of his demon powers and he is of course guilty of screwing up big time. I wanted to hug him after hearing Bobby yell at him about starting the apocalypse but what shocked me was that he was possessed by a demon. Then we get Meg returning. Wow she doesn't go away easily does she?

Of course Castiel isn't dead. Don't kill him off or Bobby. They're both awesome. Nice of Castiel to help Sam and Dean out as they were being killed slowly by Zachariah in painful injuries. Cass gets cooler each minute. However what confused me was that Bobby stabbed himself to kill the demon inside using Ruby's knife. Shouldn't that kill him too?

Dean and Sam are still on a rift from what has happened so far. With Sam choosing to go behind Dean's back and ask Ruby for help in getting stronger, drinking her blood so his powers went up a level. Dean isn't going to be all forgive and forget just like that of course. Why does this sibling relationship mirror my own slightly? o_O Then again these two have important things to worry about... like finding Lucifer.

Oh how could I forget the Sam fangirl? Nice username - samlicker81 lolz!! She was in the middle of writing a Wincest lemon scene when Chuck got in touch with her. I just cracked up from her huge fangirling over Sam, feeling how firm his muscles are. Hahaha.

Yesterday I went to London Bridge for A Scoop Of Korea. There were different events taking place in the city but I was primarily in London for the Korean village. It finishes today but I'm not going - as tempted as I am. I didn't spend too long at the village as I missed a few things. I did catch the Taekwondo demonstrations which were epic and I got overexcited from the martial arts :)

There were a few food stalls but we didn't try everything. I ate a free chicken salad that was given out to the visitors along with a cup of ginseng tea plus pancakes. One was Kimchi and onion and the other was spring onion pancakes. Tasty. I didn't go for the bbq stuff as it looked really messy on the chefs' side. We also had gyoza but it's same one we normally heat up at home or in the Japanese restaurant we frequently visit for lunch.

Samples of pics I took:

I had entered a competition to win tickets to go to Korea and had to rip out the advertisement in order to get a free gift from Korea Sparkling. Got a nice bag see which had leaflets, brochures and even a wrapped present. All the staff at the stalls spoke decent English but bless the 'interpreter' at the cooking show. While the main female chef was speaking in her native language a servant next to her had to translate the instructions in English and was struggling. A lot of people left because they didn't know what was going on.

This is what I ended up getting after unwrapping the gift - a jigsaw puzzle of Korea

The Taekwondo demonstrations had a variety of background music to go with the event. You had Kpop, rock/metal instrumentals I wasn't even familiar with, dance tracks and The Prodigy at one time. Two girls and a few guys were showing their super skillz in front of us. Too bad I couldn't take really good pics as I was near the top and couldn't get down the steps to get a better view.

There was a guy I thought quite cute. Couldn't remember which one though as a lot of the men were dressed in the same costumes. Might be one of the guys holding the umbrella for the King and Queen x) I even thought some of the guys at the Taekwondo demo weren't too shabby either haha

Magazines, leaflets and brochures I got

The Hallyu magazine had a lot of info on the drama settings and I recognised a few faces XD The shame of me. I suddenly realised I missed K-dramas and Korean music lol!!

Entire album if you're curious

Writer's Block: Peek-a-boo, what to do?

If your friend or partner left his or her email open, would you look? How about a journal? Have you ever peeked at something private?

View 834 Answers

Normally I avoid peeking over one's shoulder as they enter their password or PIN number but at work I have seen someone's Outlook window open and glanced for a second at the long list of emails in the inbox. Since I didn't take a good look at the emails I didn't get a clear idea on what the entire conversation was about. Maybe about general relationship issues...

I've also read people's notes exchanged to one another in secret which were then binned and half torn up but the only reason I took a peak at the notes was because I wasn't exactly on good terms with these colleagues. They chatted non-stop instead of doing proper work and curiosity just killed me during that period that I wanted to know what crap they were writing to each other.
