If you were to open your own theme restaurant, what would the theme be and how would you express it to the customers?

View 506 Answers

Not sure how I'd express this properly...

Well this isn't really a restaurant theme as I think it might be more suitable for cafes but I'd go for a Butler cafe theme. Check this article out. They're nowhere near as popular as the Maid Cafes. Why should the male geeks have all their fun with the maid cafes anyway? What about the ladies, eh?

Generally speaking though I'd open a restaurant that has a combination of an Animanga and Visual Kei or generic goth theme but if the fans prefer a cosy environment perhaps a cafe might be more appropriate.

Went shopping in Camden Town Market for the first time. My legs are absolutely dead after walking around for 6 hours.

It's not a place I'd like to go frequently -would prefer Westfield or West End- but I only went for a quick look with a friend. Too crowded for my liking and the market is full of dodgy sellers. Still, if you're looking for goth stuff there are loads of shops available. Lost count on how many goths and obvious metal fans lurking about.

I did however buy little merchandise on Anime after visiting the many stores opened by Chinese people. The Chibiness is omg so kawaii :P

a small doll
Chibi Kakashi
Chibi Kakashi fan opened
Chibi L fan
Chibi L fan opened

There was even a bag label called Nekomania and there were loads of cute neko design bags :D Also went into a small fancy dress shop away from the markets and they had lots of costumes for comic characters and the Harry Potter school robes. I was tempted to get a robe but there was no Slytherin tie.

Going to be so busy next week and next month. I'm off to gigs on Fri and Saturday. Then the week after that I'm heading to Milton Keynes for Collectormania 15. I won't be spending too much money. Not with the recession forming dark clouds over our heads. I'm prioritising who to see during the weekend. Mori Naoko on Sat, Burn Gorman and Philip Glenister on Sun. So far only Eve Myles is main priority for the LFCC 2009 lineup.

I've been trying my luck in winning random prizes on websites and radio stations. Obviously one cannot expect too much. The prizes mostly consisted of free tickets for gigs or exclusive meet and greets with bands, as well as useful prizes such as signed DVD. But hey I have nothing to lose. Where I work isn't the most exciting thing to date and I need to be optimistic in fandom stuff to lessen my mind from everyday stress.

I thought I had given up reading Manga and watching Anime but the minute I walked into Waterstones last week during lunch break I saw INVU vol 4. It's been too long since I read the series and I did not expect the next volume to show up in shops. I haven't finished it yet as I'm trying to read Death Note vol 7 which I borrowed from the local library near where I work. I also bought Otomen vol 1 at the same time which is still ongoing and recently published. The Mangaka is three years older than me.

As for gigs which seems to be the word that I write and mention too often much to the frustration of relatives O_O I'm still trying to decide on which Franzy gig to go for in October. I wanted to go to Brixton -if I just watch my back- but the stall tickets sold out so fast. I don't mind seated tickets but I've never ever been close to the stage in any concert and I would like to see Franz up close and drool. The other gig I was considering was the Manchester one. That's on a Sat but I have to arrange accomodation, train tickets and get a standing ticket before that sells out too. Their seat tickets vanished after a month.

Keane next Sat @ Shepherd's Bush - w00t!! I'll be so knackered because there will be two support bands. My legs are going to ache. Maybe I'll wear trainers instead of my usual flat shoes. I honestly didn't think there would be last min tickets available for Keane's Island 50 gig. I'm curious to hear the new songs live. Not sure if I can take the long wait afterwards if I wanted to get a photo with the guys and their autographs. Did it once back in March for those Franzy boys but can I do it again next week?

article

I've not seen the entire City Hunter anime and OVA or read the Manga, let alone seen the Jackie Chan films based on the series but if the idea of a City Hunter live action TV series does go ahead I'm not sure how it'll do. Of course purists will be HELL NOOOOO but I'm curious to check it out even it does look like it will bomb.

Besides, it's Jung Woo Sung playing Ryo. As much as I <3 the actor I'm not sure how he'll portray Saeba Ryo. Can he do comedic ecchi male I wonder? Who will be the (un) lucky girl to play Kaori? Will there be a Shoujo mallet featured? XDD I'm tempted to volunteer to play Kaori if I knew how to audition for casting and had the ability to act properly and with confidence. Imagine reprimanding an actor you respect or whacking him with a 'mallet.' OK I doubt the Shoujo mallet would even be included in this series.

edit Still totally bummed I couldn't get a ticket for X Japan's HK concert this month but the tickets being sold out in an instant was going to happen. So as well as France the band might be going to Germany and Finland. OMG can you imagine them going to Finland? That's like a metal country. I have this impossible fantasy of Nightwish and X Japan performing at the same venue for a special rock/metal festival or one-off show :3 Seriously that would make my inner fangirl go loopy when it shouldn't.

Transporter is a film consisting of guilty pleasure.

saw it today and think it's safe to say... )

Still bingeing on Manga. Nearly finished Fushigi Yuugi and started on Death Note. What a weird combination of my reading, eh?

I'm praying the Apocalyptica gig tomorrow evening won't be too bad. Hopefully I can get a good view. Trying to decide whether the balcony or fighting to the front of the stage is better. Then again I'm hoping to catch autographs and photos of any band member afterwards. Never done that before but I could try if I have enough energy and be quick to find them.

I'm reading Fushigi Yuugi right now. The shame of me. Although to be fair I've recently gotten back into Manga thanks to the new library that's close to where I work. The Manga shelf is pretty big and I can see a lot of people have taken loads of books out so I thought I'd catch up with anything I started reading years ago. The library had a few FY volumes available and I started reading them during lunchbreak.

Didn't watch all of The Devil's Whore part 2 on Wednesday as I was watching Heroes instead. I did catch the last twenty minutes and have realised I always fall for guys who are about to be killed :/ I'll probably watch the repeat tomorrow night.

The guy who plays Thomas Rainsborough was Azazeal in Hex. I only found out last night while browsing on the web. I didn't watch Hex from the beginning nor did I watch season 2 but I did see the season 1 finale. Azazeal didn't catch my eye as a character but Michael Fassbender (the actor who plays him) is simply unrecognisable as Thomas underneath the long hair and moustache. I need to be forgiven for not noticing his piercing eyes before. I was rather drawn to him when he appeared in episode 1 and couldn't figure out why I was intrigued. After much thought I now realise his look reminds me of a certain Nightwish band member whose name is almost similar to Thomas ;)

I was meant to meet a co-worker at C14 but she didn't turn up - due to a huge hangover. I had the feeling this would happen when she said the day before that she would be drinking in bars with her best friend. These things are very easy to predict so I was of the "whatever lah" mind for the rest of the day. After saying she would see how she feels later on in the day I insisted she not worry and get some rest. Too bad she missed out on eyecandy seeing as she is a Smallville fan >:)

For the curious-minded...

twas a hot, sunny day in Milton Keynes )

Oh dear now I am tempted to go to The Hub (Torchwood convention) as that's two weeks away. The guest list was small the last time I checked but now there's more people. I am down for missing out on Collectormania 13 where the lineup rocked even with the explosive John Barrowman effect and the fans got crazy. I would have gone there for two people.

Is there a topic you can't stop writing about in your journal? Why do you write about it so much?

If you're into many fandoms you do tend to babble about them a lot on a daily basis. For me my interests tend to change a lot but they often land in music, TV or films.

I used to write a lot about Anime and Manga in the past but since I've cut down on both things I've written about my fav dramas and fav bands. Apart from the apparent fangirling featured I've found myself ranting a lot about certain fandoms and their "logic" about characters which normally involves outrageous bashing. As a result I attempt a defence on characters, musicians, actors or shows in general where possible.

I'm probably not attending tomorrow because of an exhausting week but I had quite an interesting day out today nevertheless.

oh anime and manga it's been a while )

Now why can't London do what Paris and America do by getting top Japanese musicians to a Japanese culture convention?! That would be awesome, yes?

edit Spotted two people with Nightwish shirts. One of each era i.e. old and new. Whether or not they clashed I'll never know. In fact I saw tons of metalheads yesterday.

I'm halfway through my Nightwish concert report even though I'm resisting the enormous urge to grab my End of an Era DVD and watch it from start to finish after seeing it more than twice XD Oh the shame!! It's distracting I swear but I'm trying to calm my Nightwish high from last Wednesday.

just quickly on last Sunday's SPN )

That said I'm almost up to date with the Supernatural series :) Have three more episodes from season 2 to watch even though I know what happens after being spoiled lightly from the recaps at the beginning of each season 3 episode. It's all becoming clear to me now. Yes!!

Another thing I've noticed - I'm getting back into Anime these days, which is unlike me. Here I thought I'd have retired from not just writing but Animanga. I was intrigued by Trinity Blood because of an AMV using Nightwish as the BGM XD. I started reading a bit of the Manga and I'm finding the Anime series. Of course there are clear, notable differences and the whole Manga > Anime series thing that devoted fans are pointing. I understand this and I'm keeping all these things in mind no doubt. Plus I can't resist the opening theme. It's kind of hot. But then it's Buck-Tick so what do you expect? Mmmhmm ;)

Was thinking of walking around London to find various job agencies but I ended up losing my way and thought oh forget it. I thought I could get to one agency from Tottenham Court Road rather than Oxford Circus but I was wrong. It's even further away. Since I was in Tottenham Court Road for most of the morning I decided to try find Forbidden Planet again. Last time I went out alone I couldn't remember the way. Almost gave up again today but while walking down Shaftsbury Avenue I saw a boy with a Forbidden Planet bag. That meant...I was going the right way this time. It's unbelievable how you know you're close to a shop when you see someone with a shopping bag with that name.

So after walking around one big circle I found the shop. Walked downstairs to the graphic novels and moved around the Anime DVDs and Manga shelves. A Naruto DVD was being played (dubbed version). I was half listening while searching for specific Manga titles. If I was more enthusiastic I'd spend lots of money on Manga.

GUILTY PLEASURES
Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

Here's another meme that's growing popular over at LJ:

Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission, should they choose to accept it, to write you an in-character "letter" from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!

- Shinomori Aoshi
- Yu Shu Lien (XD yes as in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon *runs away*)
- Jet Black
- Vincent Valentine
- Tifa Lockheart
