List 10 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

1) Kino Makoto (Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon)
2) Shinomori Aoshi (Rurouni Kenshin)
3) Sakurazuka Seishirou (Tokyo Babylon, X)
4) Niki Sanders (Heroes)
5) Masahashi Ando (Heroes)
6) Buffy Summers (Buffy)
7) Gwen Cooper (Torchwood)
8) Meredith Grey (Grey's Anatomy)
9) Sam Winchester (Supernatural)
10) T-Bag (Prison Break)

There's more but I tried to think of characters I felt I had deeper thoughts on.

I realise I haven't done a rather longwinded lengthy post in a while. The Writers Block questions and episode reactions are not the best excuses. One reason is because of evil muses over the past weeks the other is...

What was your first LiveJournal usericon and why? Why did you select your current default userpic?

View 500 Answers

My very first LJ usericon was of Sakurazuka Seishirou from X/1999, smoking a cigarette casually. The colours within the image were deep red. So fitting for a very dark character xD. At the time of joining Livejournal I had finished watching X and took an immediate liking to the Seishirou/Subaru relationship, as well as Seishirou individually. The fangirling got deeper after I started reading Tokyo Babylon.

My icons change a lot depending by the fandom I'm obsessing over but my current default userpic is of Nightwish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. His composing is simply fantastic. I'm a sucker for epic music and he just makes metal sound so good with symphonic style. I've been listening to Nightwish for at least 7 months now and their music always ends up on my CD player.

If you could be cast on any TV show, from any time, who would you play?

Doctor Who If the Doctor and his companion travel to Ancient Japan then I'd say a Kunoichi.

Supernatural An Onmyoji [recurring character role like Ruby and Bela in season 3] - though I think Sumeragi Subaru would do a better job at it than me of course!! I've yet to see a SPN episode focusing on any supernatural things that originate from the Far East.

If anyone's up for this meme that's spreading everywhere:

1. Pick a fandom
2. List 10 - 15 songs you think belong to them
3. Give a line(s) from each song, which would explain why you picked it.

Fandom of choice: Tokyo Babylon, some X (anyone familiar with the former will know which characters I'm referring to the most)

this proved to be harder than I thought )

I've been messing around with my memories again, still learning to use it. I didn't realise up till now that it could be a useful tool. Yes, I'm a slow learner, I know XD

I've been on a Tokyo Babylon/X high. Went to watch more music videos on the two series. Things have been hectic these days but I guess it's been like that since May and I felt like satisfying my um...craziness for specific Onmyouji.

let's make a bet )

Just ordered Tokyo Babylon vol 2 off Amazon. It doesn't surprise me to hear that my parents only ever see me smile (as in really grin) when I'm reading Manga or watching Anime (you see I honestly can't help myself when I see Subaru face fault, esp because of Sei-chan XD The first volume was just so entertaining). With everything else not relating to Anime...oh I'll let you work that out XP It's hectic to describe myself, even if I have attempted to do a biographical piece on myself...and did badly (then again the tutor was a newbie and probably had a different way of marking. Feh ¬_¬).

I never thought I would be capable of reading Manga at a later stage. To begin with I was completely Anime-biased and only wanted to watch Anime...that is until Rurouni Kenshin came into my life and showed me the way to reading some good Manga. Woo hoo. Since reading the entire RK Manga I am happy to read other Manga too. Yosh. Look at me go crazy over Clamp stuff. I had passing thoughts on buying the first volume to Tennis no Oujisama but I might save that for later. I am curious to watch the series though (hear my fav Seiyuu. Yes yes).

All right I've been thinking now and then about this but I cannot confirm a proper yes and no on what I think about a few things in regards to X. OK the minute I saw Seishirou and Subaru in action in the X series I was hooked without a shadow of a doubt. On the one hand there's um...

come on Subaru, angst )

I just watched five music videos. One had Smooth Criminal as the main song for a Yami no Matsuei tribute. Ow *does Michael Jackson pose.* The second was The Best Part of an Anime Guy, which focuses on eyes. Male eyes to be precise. Ah, so pretty. I recognised a large number of the guys featured in that video. So dreamy ^_^. There was another one I had watched before but didn't recognise a lot of the footage. Aside from Inuyasha, Fruits Basket, Yami no Matsuei and Gravitation characters, I can recognise the oh so famous Subaru and Seishirou among the pretty men, as well as Naoe and Takaya. God, I'm starting to get hungry after watching all that. Jou-chan is insane, ne? Add a tribute to Hokuto, Seishirou and Subaru to the no of videos I watched today. Very nice and sentimental that video was. Used a Stevie Wonder song called Seasons of Love. I also enjoyed a very cool tribute to Kasumi Karen from X (Like A Prayer by Madonna - it's appropriate for Karen). She's one of my favourite characters. Then again I appreciate a large number of the X cast, whether they are Chi no Ryu or Ten no Ryu.

What I wouldn't give to make a music video, let alone draw decent fanart and do well-written fanfiction...

Well I'm off to find more quizzes now. Or even find decent images to observe for many hours.

It's weird how I've been saying to a lot of people that I want to stop writing Sailormoon (okay more precisely Sailorjupiter) crossovers...and still end up with ideas that turn into a fanfic. Some muses are so determined to get out, aren't they? It's like an addiction, isn't it? Writing about one favourite character for so long sticks in your mind and you feel comfortable with it. OK it's true that I've lost some interest in the Sailormoon crossovers. It's mainly down to the fact that this genre is detoriating. I remember some authors saying, "Hey where are the Sailorjupiter fics?" Um...they disappeared, de gozaru yo. All right, I think I did a lot of Jupiter crossover fics in the past but ended up deleting them XD. And to follow on from that comment, some of the best Makoto writers have departed ;_;. Compared to say the large population of Moonies/Usagi fics, Makoto-centric stories are so minute, as are the number of fans unsurprisingly enough. Well right now there are two Sailorjupiter authors who I am familiar with and they can write Makoto IC ^_^

It's taken me at least two years to understand my true reason for writing Sailorjupiter crossover fics. Sounds corny I know but when I first started back in 2000 I wasn't using my brain straight. As a result of that, I was the epitome of immature fan who bashed characters stupidly or who wrote bad reviews simply saying 'please write more.' Gosh, I'm so guilty of being like that. Really am...

Now I understand why I began writing Sailorjupiter stories and how the fans see her. And it relieves me when I was told one time that I never made Makoto OOC. TBH, when I first joined ff.net there were no stories on Makoto. Whether she is the focus or not, she is the one who gets the most OOCness. The other Inner Senshi and the Outer Senshi are usually fine but Makoto is just -how do I say this?- turned into a simple fighting maniac or worse, a boy-crazy person or even a flirt. With the last two things, I go nuts.
The common jobs Mako is given are chef or a former gang member. The former is abundant but still holds as an exceptional trait since Mako does like cooking. What I am trying to say is, it's fine if you want to make her a chef or a gangster but there are also other things you can use. She's an ice-skater and a flower lover. Now very few stories focus on these two notions. Mako's flower love is more in the Manga from what I've researched. Hmm...why does it not surprise me that people say the Manga is better than the Anime?

I could go on and on about Makoto if I wanted to. She's that complex, especially for an underdog (yet very few fans see it). Bit like Harry Potter actually (yes contrary to how people think he is a Gary Stu, when he certainly isn't, Harry is an underdog hero XP). You know, fans dislike Makoto because she is underrated. They consider her useless. Some ignore her. Think Honda from Yu Gi Oh. Makoto can do many things if you demonstrate it believably. I guess this is what I had been trying to do in the last year with my latest stories. Makoto is a rare breed of a female who can show her strength and keep her femininity in check. Now how many female characters can you name that are of a similar status? Not easy, ne? And Makoto has worked hard to get to who she is.

One other thing that I consider a peeve is how quite a few stories spell her name wrong (gosh look at how an underdog suffers ;_;). Rather than the usual M-A-K-O-T-O. People replace the first O with an A. I used to do it once or twice but not constantly ^^;; I understand why people are used to writing R-A-Y-E and accidentally use this spelling alongside the Japanese names when in fact it should be R-E-I. That I can accept, although one ought to bear in mind whether they are going to be following the subbed or dubbed version when writing fanfiction.

OK I realise I'm repeating myself from my message board so I'll stop typing about this point XD If you want to read more details on my Mako theories, feel free to browse through my message board.
