Out of boredom I did a search on Sookie, True Blood and the Mary Sue concept within the Sookie Stackhouse novels. The minute I put Sookie + Mary Sue together I found plenty of pages where people cried yes she is a Sue but then Twilight popped up in the search as well. I also found some Twilight VS True Blood posts. I would consider doing a defence post for Sookie on [info]hated_character if I knew enough on the books and True Blood but I'm still going through the early episodes of season 2.

It seems Sookie fandom gets compared to the Anita Blake series too e.g. here I haven't read the Anita Blake books as I'm scared of the Mary Sue thing that people have been warning about which was the feeling I got from Twilight. But now that I'm done with the Twilight saga I am going to brave myself for more crazy, supernatural fiction. So yes I might try Anita Blake and get through what I can of the Sookie Stackhouse novels until I break down. The last vampire series I read and kind of liked was the Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith. I read those a long time ago.

Mako nostalgia and an encounter with a typically naive Westerner towards Manga )

Heroes vol 5 trailer was crazy. So Claire and that new girl are going to please the f/f fans. But my main excitement is from seeing Robert Knepper in the trailer. Still got the T-Bag presence which is a plus :D I am going to be keeping my eye on him throughout the series screencapping a lot if I have the chance lol. Hope they keep him for most of the season. I haven't read spoilers as I no longer follow the Heroes comms as much as I used to because the fandom makes me want to poke myself like hell. James Kyson Lee linked to a short trailer of vol 5 on his Twitter and I saw Ando with a Japanese girl. Is that Hiro's Nee-san?! Not that I'm fussed. Ando does need love after all!!

Over the past ten years, many friendships have started and/or been renewed on LiveJournal. Of your current LJ friends, who have you known the longest?

View 500 Answers

If you're talking about anyone from LJ who I have met IRL then I would say nobody. But if you're talking about who I've known the longest via LJ or the internets in general then that honour goes to [info]soberirishlass aka Girl-chama ^_^. I remember posting my first Sailormoon-related story on FF.net in October 2000 and her name popped up in a review :D

On a further note I believe a lot of the LJ friends I've added are/were in the same fandoms as me and we still keep in touch.

Multifandom Drabble Meme

I requested an obscure Gossip Girl idea and to my surprise someone responded at the above meme XD. I have the temptation to request some more and wouldn't mind trying to fill some requests if I could. I have Gossip Girl fanfic ideas in mind but it would be difficult to pull off as there are some canon facts which I both approve and disapprove between the books and the TV series.

Music
Last Thursday I tried to watch the 3D webcast on Keane's website. It started at 8PM my time. A lot of fans were disappointed because it was so short. I expected the performance to last an hour but it ended up being 25 mins approximately. Sure there were seconds of delay as it was live though I could see what was happening. I didn't have time to make my own Keane 3D glasses and my connection died when it hit Spiralling :( Hopefully when the webcast is uploaded on the official website I can watch it again.

I'm also sad I couldn't get tickets for Spandau Ballet's gigs this coming October. They sold out too quickly. If I had internet where I worked I may have had more chances :/

If a friend started reading your journal today, what would you need to fill them in on so they could understand what you're writing about?

I'd say, "Don't worry personal posts are either kept to a minimum, locked/filtered or posted privately." But more importantly I warn them about spotting fangirling on many fandoms in each of my entries :P

God this cross-a-drabble meme is tickling my fanfic muses O_O Let's see what I can come up with.

I'm trying to do a short story and only managed something like 200 words. I got the beginning and the end lined up but the filling... gah it's empty :( Stupid muse, give me something to write and submit to a magazine already T_T I've been temping for too long, haven't I?

Tomorrow might be snowing again here. It's apparently going to be heavier than Monday. Oh don't tell me this will disrupt my journey to work again. Got the rest of my snow photos up on my online album which you can see here

Yesterday I caught The Covenant on the movie channels (for the sole reason on checking out Chace Crawford even though he's yet again a minor character ^^;; *runs away*). I wasn't expecting much from it since it was so cliche in the supernatural storyline area but I was bored and zapping on the different TV channels.

I've seen the name Caleb used quite a great deal in stories based on witches, horror or the general supernatural genre. Obviously the audience is for young teens because of the apparent eyecandy and omg the slash but the magical fight scenes were fun to watch and I liked the music. Makes you want to headbang a lot.

I also had this terrible habit of thinking of it as Gossip Girl in horror film mode because of its setting. Rich teens living in big houses or settling in boarding schools. You could probably put this into a series but then it might be like Hex or something similar. I think if the characters clashed with the Winchester brothers it might be a verbal battle of sorts.

About the main four guys...

Why am I always deceived? )

I was browsing [info]spn_heavymeta on the latest reaction posts for SPN 4.10 Heaven and Hell until I came across this detailed meta discussing the Supernatural and Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. As a fan of both shows may I just say, "YES!!"

I'm definitely going to be showing this to the BTVS cynics I know IRL *vamps out XD*

Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He is believed to have called it his greatest literary work ever. Can you write a story in six words?

I would find it tricky to tell a story in six words. Most of the things I've thought up so far seem to be extracts/teasers for a piece of writing.

But um...

Listening to music alone. It's either easy listening or metal that does the trick for me, depending by how very angry I feel. If I need a bit of a headbang out comes my Jrock or random metal album. My other form of "therapy" is fiction writing where I often turn people into dark muses. Somehow it always comes from the head while I do other things that don't involve writing. So if I'm typing a letter I suddenly take half my mind to another place and start writing about individuals who made my day bad and do something to them ^^;;

Who introduced you to LiveJournal? Why did you first open an account or get involved?

View 503 Answers

I noticed a lot of my fav {ff.net} authors had LJs and was intrigued by what this website was. Why were people registered there? I then discovered it was like an online journal however at the time I didn't understand the appeal of sharing personal entries in public (didn't realise then you could make them private if necessary).

After a lot of thought I decided to open an account just for the sake of sharing notes on my fanfiction and the ideas behind them. I had no intention of turning it into a place where I babble about anything from fandoms to "philosophical" thinking. Boy was I wrong XD

Nonetheless I find LJ is great when it comes to finding fandom communities. I found great graphics and discovered new music simultaneously, as well as caught up with fellow ff.net authors I thought had disappeared :)

Tag, you're it! (if you're reading this)

Here’s how you play: Once you’ve been tagged you have to write a blog with weird, random, facts, habits or goals about yourself, at the end choose 15 people to be tagged, list their names and why you tagged them. Don’t forget to leave them a comment saying (You’re It!) and to go read your blog. You cannot tag the person that tagged you, so since you can’t tag me back, let me know when you are done and where you posted it so that I can go read YOUR blog answers...

**I'll leave this open to anyone actually since anyone may have done this meme already or similar ones previously...

shall I be obscure? )

Might edit this with more info on another particular quirk that's complicated.

Throughout the past days I tried to write something fictional for a competition and I've been failing miserably that I'm most unlikely to meet the deadline before my long weekend trip >_____>

My reason ~ I think I'm far too occupied with the likes of my current job and studying to actually sit down and type up a ten minute script based on a BBC perspective. I do find the topic fascinating and an opportunity for British Born Chinese to speak out but it's just too difficult to nail what goes on in my mind through a script.

If this competiton had a focus on just prose writing I can definitely get with the nitty gritty and just splash my thoughts in monologue or first person. Then again I've not written something proper or passionate in what, four or five years?! *frowns* My enthusiasm to write creatively has been sent to the recycling bin. Poo to stress, sickness and fatigue that's all I can say DX

But thank goodness I received the photo of Sark!David Anders in the post this morning. I can now sigh with relief. One thing's down now I have to wait until two weeks time for Eclipse to arrive. I'm inspired to grab my Alias season 1 DVD boxset and start watching the episodes with Sark featured :P

Well everyone's done it though mine's gonna be brief

tw 2.02 sleeper )

Oh god the current episodes of Supernatural season 3 will begin airing this weekend on ITV and I haven't even finished watching season 2 yet D:!! I'll probably have to tape each episode per week while I make my way through the season 2 DVDs I got a few weeks ago. Or I could just spoil myself a little and watch it while I go through season 2. Very strange way of doing things I know. I kind of did this with my 24 viewing. When day 4 started three years ago I enjoyed the intensity and cliffhangers so much it inspired me to go buy days 1-3 on DVD to get a clearer idea on the past history some of the main characters had. Plus I had a special student discount card to take advantage of. Student discounts FTW. I wish I made more use of these when I was still a student :( All the books, cinema tickets, gym memberships etc...but at least I had a student travelcard. Now that was heaven.

I recently caught a muse on writing Torchwood fic after investigating various posts on Gwen Cooper and the story would crossover with Heroes. Nothing spectacular. Just um...psychological stuff. Then again I wanted to write about the same Heroes character using my old school Mako-chan muse with the same set-up as the TW/Heroes one. It seems this kind of vignette is recurring in my recent stuff o.O

Only this time it's Robin Hood. Wow this is a first for me. Before it was mostly about Mako-chan and a bit of Rurouni Kenshin now it's Robin Hood the cheesy cracktastic BBC series. I've never thought about writing for the fandom until recently. Without a doubt that season 2 shocker of finale has understandably tickled many fans' muses, prompting them to write stories to calm themselves.

I suppose the last time I wrote angsty crack was through a Weiss Kreuz one-shot fic based on Schwarz from long ago. That was dreadful. Anyway I want to write an alternative side for the Guy/Marian bit near the end. It's probably been done already though. What I have spotted so far aside from the occasional smut are fics that went into detail on what was going through both Guy and Marian's heads so I guess that comes close to my intentional idea. Here's a one-shot I found --> The Climax by [info]twinni_two

Just wanted to do what I normally do each year when I remember birthdays and that is to say Happy 42nd Birthday Yoshiki-sama :D I hope you can start a world tour with X Japan soon because that would make my current status so much more enlightening.

Secondly, the question of the day I posted earlier this morning had me thinking about something as I was browsing around Wikipedia, researching SE Hinton's books. I was remembering why I enjoyed reading The Outsiders for most of the morning and it occured to me that one of the characters I'm fond of was pretty much a male version of Mako-chan in a way HOMG a muse!! J/K Mako's not hyper or genki by any means but she's all about being the big sibling who listens attentively and I guess that shows when I read Sodapop's actions, as well as the reckless fighting to blow off some energy. Sodapop is not the eldest brother (that would be Darry) but he seems more nurturing and openly caring.

Speaking of muses Supernatural, Doctor Who and Heroes really tease fanfic writers. They're such huge fandoms and the characters can be engaging whenever possible that it makes my former muse itch. I'd kill to write a decent Heroes/DW, Heroes/X-Men or Heroes/Supernatural fic. Actually anything crossover related I want to write. I was browsing the [info]sn_crossovers community and saw loads of stories posted but I haven't sat down to read them yet. Oh [fan]fiction writing if only fandoms weren't so nutty I'd probably still enjoy storywriting like I did in the past.

I think you can tell I'm a latecomer SPN fan. I recently watched 1.09 Home and now I'm suddenly in need to go further XD
